Ana Rodríguez received her PhD in Medieval History from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1992. She has spent most of her academic career at the CSIC, where she has been a Senior Scientist since 2004 and a Research Scientist since 2009. In 1990-1992 she was a MEC fellow at the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris).

She is Research Professor at the Instituto de Historia, Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales, CSIC. Her main line of research is the social history of power and political and institutional history in the Middle Ages. Linked to these approaches, other lines of research developed throughout the research projects she has directed refer to materiality, constructive processes, objects and power; royal power and the elements of political legitimacy in a comparative perspective; medieval historiography, in particular chronistic sources; the socialisation of political processes and the formation of local powers; the history of women and gender.
